Hi, I'm Kim
I grew up in southwest Missouri, but always knew I wanted to travel. When my husband and I discovered the world of international schools teaching, we packed up and headed off – he as a teacher and me as an accompanying partner & mother. Growing our family while abroad has been challenging in ways we couldn’t have imagined … and rewarding beyond our expectations.
Being married to a teacher and having teachers as most of our friends for the past 17 years, I’ve seen firsthand the struggles international schools teachers face. Now that my husband has transitioned into a leadership position, I have even more insight & empathy for the strains on schools and their people.
I desperately want to see better transitions care for teachers and school staff. That will directly impact teachers’ quality of life, and improve students’ and families’ experiences in international schools.
As a parent, I also know the questions and concerns families bring. We all just want the best for our kids. Figuring out the “how” can be tricky to navigate… especially in a system that’s not what we grew up with.
I’m a licensed practitioner of Adapt and Succeed Abroad and member of Expat Coach Coalition, creator of the Expat Family Connection podcast, mother of three Third Culture Kids (TCKs), and a peacemaker at heart.
